Need Astina Refrigerator Defrost Timer

Featured Replies

My 8 year old refrigerator is starting to show its age. The defrost timer is failing. The repairman, in typical Thai fashion, charged my 500 baht for the service call, and told me he would replace the timer the next day for an additional 2000 baht. Of course, the next day he said he couldn't find it and that was that. Doesn't answer my phone calls anymore.

So now I am left with a refrigerator that only runs for a few hours every day until I manually pull off the defrost timer and whack it a couple of times. Then it runs for a few more hours. This is not an acceptable state of affairs. I went to Amorn at Zeer Rangsit, and showed them a picture, but they told me they didn't have it.

Does anyone know where there is a relatively large supplier of refrigerator timers who is likely to have the one I need? It is an 8 hour timer.

Do I need to get EXACTLY the same one, or will pretty much any 8 hour timer do for this purpose?

At 8 years of age your fridge is approaching end of life, I doubt you'll find a replacement unless someone has a similar fridge that's died in another way.

Personally I'd just link it out permanently and do a manual defrost when needed.

EDIT There's quite a few 'universal' timers available on eBay so I'd bet pretty well any one with the same parameters will do the trick.
