Enlish Father Of Two Year Old Thai Baby Requires 'o' Visa

Featured Replies

I have a two year old daughter born in Thailand. The child has my name on birth certificate..I am not married but support the child. What is reguired to qualify for 'o' visa for a Thai dependant? At present i have retirement visa but i am unable to meet the cash requirement of pension and cash 800.000 Thai Baht this year due to unfavorable exchange rates Thai/UK.

The child lives with you and you have custody or do you mean you provide money to the mother? Age of child is below that where child can say so it would likely require a court order.

Basically the financial requirements are the same as for Thai wife.

Edit: Another question is did you personally register the birth?

Note that you can meet the requirement for an extension of stay based on retirement in 3 ways:

1. 800,000 in a bank account in Thailand for 3 months

2. having an income of 65,000 a month

3. a combination of money in the bank and yearly income, totaling 800,000.

If you want to apply for an extension of stay based on your Thai child, you will need to become the legal father of the child first.

If you are the Father and you legalize your Child in your Contry ( a lot of hassle!! ) that you are the Father then your Child have 2 Passports and then on the Immigration no problems. I do it since 2008 the Law chanched.

I wish you good Luck

The child can get a UK birth certificate and a UK-Passport, but that will still not be a legitimization under Thai law and solve OP's problems.
