camerata Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 This is the story of how Buddhism developed and spread from India to China to Japan, using parts of the main scriptures and linked essays to tell the story. Pretty fascinating, but the writing style is somewhat dry and academic. It's a pity it couldn't include Tibetan Buddhism but the author says it was beyond the scope of the book.

camerata Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 So is this a book review or did you forget to include a link or something? Yeah, it's a mini-review! More info available at Amazon. It's a book that doesn't seem to be at all well-known but it's a mine of information for anyone interested in Mahayana Buddhism in China and Japan.
