Lady Slipper Orchid, (Translation something like "Long Towe Nalee" ) seen while walking along a trail in one of the National Parks in Trang area of southern Thailand.

Be careful where you tread and look down, or you'll miss little treasures like this!

I am not sure of the exact location, the sign in third picture may give a clue (if you can read Thai!) ....

Photo Taken end of July 2011

Wow Samuijimmy, it's a beautiful flower, never seen before. (maybe I should watch less up to the butterflies...)

Could you tell me which National Park was close to Trang (I was there one week ago)?

My wife translate the sign as "trail going to Matcha Pla Won cave" (location Phattalung)

Thanks Angiud ... I know that day, we drive around a number of parks, in the general area from Thaili Noi, Trang and Phattalung... so your wife is no doubt correct..thumbsup.gif ...

It's all easy driving around there, so long as you have someone who knows were to go!!! wink.png

I seem to remember they were fixing the path up to the caves, so we never saw them. sad.pngBut seeing that made my day anyway!!! .... Too bad I only had an Ipad with me at the time...to get the photo...

I've got a long way to go to catch up with your standards of photography.... thumbsup.gif

The Tamron 180 is one of the best macro lens in the market, light and sharp. A very good choice!

Thanks - I must say that my decision between the Tamron, the Sigma and the canon was purely based on cost. Got it as a shop demo for $500 US. Easily the cheaper of the three lenses - but I hope not too inferioir. let you know how it goes.

I just went through all the pages here ... breathe taking shoots here!

Here are a few more of one of my favorite areas in southern Thailand, that is Thali Noi Lake... in Northern Songhkla Province... about 20 kms from Phattalung or can be accessed from Ranot by taking the long bridge...

There seems to be more places to stay in the area theses days. January is best time to see birds, April best to see lilies. But do as early in the morning as possible, because the lilies close up by around noon!!!

Long tale boats can be hired from Thali Noi village, for a bout 500 baht for 3 hours or so... well worth it! thumbsup.gif

The guy driving the boat does slow down when camera goes up...!

These were taken in early May this year.

This is a very interesting report for me. Looking at working my way down through the parks to the malaysian border.

Wow Samuijimmy, a wonderful and very interesting collection!

I think you get the bigger WOW factor angiud !!! .....

I've managed a few butterflies and birds, but the dam_n things keep movin on me!!!

A friend uses honey to get the butterflies to "sit and stay" thumbsup.gif .... I tried that once and got honey all over the camera bag, luckily not the camera! whistling.gifbiggrin.png
