How To Do A Quick, Smooth Double Entry Tourist Visarun To Vientiane?

I plan to fly from Bkk to Udon Thani in the morning, make the Thai embassy in Laos on time, pick up my visa the next afternoon and make a late flight back to bkk from udon Thani on time.

I have been looking through many posts on various forums and picked up partial info here and there.

Naturally questions like these are on my mind:

Whats the latest I can land in Udon Thani in the morning to make the Thai embassy in Laos on time?

When do they stop receiving applications at the embassy in Laos?

Should I go with the Friendship bus? How long time does the Friendship busride take? (If needed I could go get a Laos Visa in Bkk to go direct with that bus maybe?)

Whats the earliest I can expect to pick up my visa the following afternoon?

Curious if anyone did the trip by plane via Udon already and could provide the key tips on how to do it?

Maybe its not realistic to do it without spending 2 nights away?
