Getting Multiple Entry Ed Visa Outside Homecountry

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm a Swiss student who is going to study from August-December at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. Since I will be travelling to Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and probalby Hongkok, it is suggested to get a multiple entry visa in order to be allowed getting back into Thailand without buying a re-entry permission. A friend of mine told me that it is very time consuming and annoying if you always have to get your re-entry permissions in BKK and it costs you a lot more.

However, the Thai Embassy and the Thai Consulates in Switzerland are very strict about granting multiple entry ED visa. They are only giving them to business people but not students. I have the letter of acceptance by Chula University and another letter adressed to me saying that it is recommended getting a multiple entry visa. According to the lady at the visa office at the Thai Embassy in Switzerland, that doesen't help either.

I heard from friends that it could be easier to get a multiple entry visa in Germany. Is it possible for me, as a Swiss citizen, to get my visa at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Munich or do I have to get it in Switzerland? If yes, how long would it take to get the visa? Do I have to go to Munich (3h drive) or can I apply by mail?

Do you have other recommendations getting a multiple entry ED visa?

I hope that someone can help me.

Regards

Matthias Gisler

Contact the consulates by email and ask them.

The Thai Consulates and the Embassy in Switzerland are a combination of Thai Stubbornness and Swiss preciseness, witch makes them a absolute pain in the backside. If you want to apply for more then a single entry Tourist Visa its like applying for a Bank Credit without Job. But wonder happen sometimes I heard.

That beside, you are travelling a lot in the 5 month you are studying. If you fly, you will get every time 30 days when you come back, land Boarder crossings will get you 15 days. As you go to Laos and Cambodia, you could get single or double entry Tourist Visas there.

Easiest Thai Consulates in Europa are in the UK, Birmingham and Hull.
