Translation Into English

Featured Replies

Hello,

Great forum everyone, I may have more questions soon, as my Thai Wife and I leave Thailand (lived here 4 years) and move to the UK.....

I know where to get English translated into Thai, (opposite UK embassy)

Q. Where would I get my Thai Wedding certificate translated into English ? and approved ?

Q. When my wife goes to the IOM office is the passport and ID card just for identification, of do they put a Certificate in the Passport ? (She want's to change her passport to my family name so we need it to be in the correct passport)

Thanks, Gareth

Same place that translates from English to Thai can do from Thai to English, also opposite the Thai MFA consulair section there are some translation agencies.

First you have the certifiacte translated, than you go with the original and translation to the Thai Foreign Ministry, cosulair section to have it certified and then you go to the embassy to have it certified by them. Your embassy should have all this on their website.

Post to our office translations are 400 baht per paper stamped etc.

Sorry to appear dumb, but what exactly are we talking about here and why do we need it? I'm kind of worried now as we haven't done this. We just got married and got the thai wedding certificate which we are going to get translated into English. We were then just going to put this into our visa settlement folder. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

My wife has since changed her ID and had a new passport issued in her married name (i.e. mine).

Thanks,

Sorry, I waas thinking that you wanted to register your marriage with your embassy/have it registered in the UK. That is an option, but not a requirement. But having a legitimized copy of your marriage certificate is a good idea, if you ever need to proof your marriage in the UK.

Hi,

How do you go about this? I just have the Thai registered marriage certificate. I will get that translated into English with someone no problem. But how do I go about registering the marriage in the UK and do I need to do anything additional first?

Many thanks
