annabel
This is very strange .... I went to my in box to reply to a mail I received on June 6th and I see the mail has a RED X next to it meaning it has been deleted....?? I haven't deleted any of my mails .... Plus a whole bunch of other mails have the same deleted mark beside them ...? I can open the mails but it says :"You cannot reply to this mail"...!!?? What is going on and how and why are my incoming mails in my in box being deleted....?? And no ! I haven't changed any settings or programmed or put filters to delete certain mails. This is very annoying
Drew Aitch
Hi Annabel You'll need to tell folks what email program you are using in order to get any help. As it is, the request is way too broad. Also, is it all emails, only ones from certain people, companies, accounts, etc? It could be simply a rule incorrectly set-up to auto delete emails from a certain account, person, or group etc. Aitch

Drew Aitch
She is talking about her Thai Visa messages same with mine, guess the powers that be decided we don't need them. Okay, now i understand. I just went into my TV inbox and there are also a bunch of what looks like 'cherry-picked' emails that have the red cross next to them. Looking at these emails, it appears that mine have something in common, i.e. mention of moderation or links to other sites/services etc. If i find out that someone is actually going into my inbox and reading private emails, or setting up filters to auto delete those mails that contain certain words, or links etc, then i won't be very happy. This is either an area private to the members or it's not. Aitch
elektrified
Likewise. It appears my emails have been cherry picked and certain ones have been deleted. Very odd.

Nope !!! there is absolutely no pattern at all to ALL THE MAILS that are showing as deleted in my in box...None at all and I can't imagine that a mail sent to me on JULY 19th 2009 that the sender has all of of a sudden decided to Delete it ... And this goes on throughout August 2009 till now from various senders .... And interestingly enough ALL mails from Jan 20th 2008 up to June 2009 are all still there and none deleted ????..... Nope ..sorry but something is very wrong here ..? What is it??
BigWheelMan
My inbox, sent mails and blocked list has completely disappeared and not been able to locate them since the introduction of the new format. Am I doing something wrong, or have these items been removed?
Tywais
My inbox, sent mails and blocked list has completely disappeared and not been able to locate them since the introduction of the new format. At the bottom there is a list box that allows you to show all PMs you have sent. Appears all PMs have been put into one box and probably a limitation of the new software to import since naming conventions have changed.

WarpSpeed
I could be wrong on this but based on what's in my box it seems that since the boxes are now combined it seems that the ones with the red X's are replies and no longer can be replied to meaning if they were in your "sent" box they would have been sent by you in response already so therefore not something for you to reply to... I.E. distinguishing sent from inbox..That's what it appears to me anyway on a quick glance. I know there's others sent without X's but they are the last response in the line not the middle response so not open ended? Make any sense? BigWheelMan
At the bottom of what? I still can`t find it, Help! At the bottom of Your Messenger page. As mentioned, the ones in red are PMs sent to other members and which they have deleted at their end. I still can`t see it and also went into help, now called forum support desk, read this message: There are a couple of ways to get to your messenger inbox: - If you have unread messages a link will appear in the black bar just under the menu, that says: "Messenger (x new)" - click that link and you will come to your messenger inbox. - Click the number in the black square just to the right of your name (also in the black bar just under the menu), it will bring out a popup that shows your latests notifications, if any of those notifications are about PMs there are links there as well. - And finally the easiest way that is always available: Click the down arrow just to the right of your name in the black bar under the menu. This will bring up a popup that has a link to your messenger. Tried all that, but it`s just not there, I cannot access my pm boxes or blocked list, seems they no longer exist. Several of my friends and I have checked this out with the same results. Anyway, maybe we are all thickos, so I have gone the easy route and disabled my pm facility. The print shot below shows the message I receive when clicking on the messenger icon, which is not accessible. lopburi3
The message next to the red X has not been deleted and can be read on my computer. You just can not directly reply anymore and would have to compose a new message and copy/paste. It appears that you can use the PM system as a chat room for up to 25 people and the X is likely a time expired feature. As have not used much this is only a quick guess. Tywais
I just ran a couple of tests. If the member who sends you a PM deletes it from his "My Conversations" box the recipient will see a Red X, therefore only red Xs will show when showing messages received from a member and has been deleted at his end. However, you can still read the message as it is a copy in your own folder. As for seeing all your PMs (Conversations) the snapshot below shows that you can click on any place I have a red arrow and it will bring up all your PMs. The [0] has an option to "View All Notifications" which will again take you to your full list of PMs.
Tywais
Another test and with a PM box completely empty and still show the pull down box to select what to display.

Yes but, I have no my conversations, the facility doesn`t exist in my case. So I can`t get in to do any tests. Nevermind, I don`t need PMs anyway. eggomaniac
My hunch is the new system adopted a Gmail type filing system!? Once I was going to switch over to Gmail, but found the filing system too confusing, so stuck with Hotmail. I could not figure out how to Delete and Email without deleting all of emails from one person. I think that may be the Problem here? I Deleted a few Messages from one person, then when I wanted to Reply to one Email, it said the 'Conversation' had been Deleted. Had to Copy the Contents of the one still in my Inbox, go to Members Search,Compose a new message, Paste the message, then Reply. If IF this is the problem, a Gmail style filing system, I'm going to need the training manual. When I Googled about the Gmail filing system, I saw that others were trying to figure out the same 'problem'.

I have been using Gmail for a while with Outlook, I was very impressed a little while ago when upgrading my motherboard. The new motherboard has 3 different Raid controllers on board and I ended up with losing all the information on my hard drives. I had backed up everything a few days before however there where a few important emails that I had lost. I was very happy to find out that all my emails inbox, sent items etc. where sitting on the qmail server. So when I started outlook it just downloaded the lot for me.
