Adopting A Thai Child

Featured Replies

Hi- I am an American on an O-A Visa, with a Thai wife (not registered marriage). She has a 10 year old son, but, I m not the father. The father is agreeable to helping in any way. My Thai wife and I went to the USA last November-December. She has recently received a 2 year visa. We needed more papers for her son, but, we think that will be fine. My first question is-- Will he likely be given a 2 year visa to match his mother, or, a 6 month visa as it is his 1st time to the USA? Any educated guesses welcomed.

My 2nd question is harder. With the Thai parents not being married, can I adopt the boy, with the approval of both parents? Will the major obstacle be with the Thai government, or, the American? Where can I get information related to this topic? --Thanks
