June 19, 201015 yr Hi I have Cat Telecom 3mbit currently, I use myself a usb-stick, I get 3mbit in the computer. The computer I use is a Sony VGN-NR21S. My neighbor would like to use my internet, there is no possibility to distribute wireless Internet so he can even use it. The problem is that the Internet is via a USB stick, it is possible to buy a router or a switch to share internet access for him? Wondered if one router connected to my computer to be distributed through the?
June 19, 201015 yr Theoretically it is easy to do it. In practice... well I don't know. I used to do exactly this 2002-2003, but the modem in my case was my mobile phone with blue-tooth connection to one computer. All my computers were connected to a hub. Maybe you can use the Internet Connection Sharing in Windows-XP for this but it may be a problem if you use the software delivered with the usb modem. They, the providers, most likely don't like the idea of sharing. They may have blocked the Internet connection sharing of the USB modem. I haven't tested this in modern times (that is "any point in time later than 2003..." ). If you have a Linux box and time to read, there are all sorts of weired stuff described... just Google for it.
