June 20, 201016 yr I've been in Thailand for four days and I'm covered in little red marks (actually, they're not that little; they're about the same diameter as a pencil rubber) and itching like crazy. At first I thought they were mosquitos bites but today I found a few in places that are covered by clothes. For example, I found a couple on my gluts (no joke), which means the msoquitoes would've had to get through my shorts and my underwear to bite me. Also, they weren't there when I woke up and I've been sitting working in the computer all morning, so I have no idea how they could've bit me there. Am I missing something? I've had chicken pox and every other childhood illness, so that can't be it. The marks are mostly in my leg (and now my gluts) and a couple on one arm. The itching is driving me absolutely crazy and bug spray is making no difference --I have lots more today than I did yesterday. Anybody experienced this? Could I be allergic to something here?

June 20, 201016 yr shellfish allergy or creatures or shingles Shingles are extremely painful, not itchy. Sounds like you are getting bit by some kind of critter.
June 20, 201016 yr Could it be these microscopic jellyfishes that comes in the southern thailand once a year? I got stings from them a few years ago. I felt something burning in the water but not much at all, just thought it was the salt from the water when it touched a mosquitobite or something. After the swim i fell asleep on the beach for less than one hour and when i woke up it was itching like CRAZY! Had to throw away the swimsuit because i read that the burning tentacles acually stay in the cloth even if i send it to laundry. The night that followed was the worst night of my life, i thought i would go completely MAD from itching! Went to the pharmacy the next morning and i didn't have to say much before she gave me a cream and antihistamine. Obviously people had been there before me with the same thing. It can be the washingdetergent as well. They are stronger here because the washing machines don't use hot water like in the west. If you are sensitive, that could be the reason. If it is jellyfishsting, there is a cream called "Systral" at the pharmacy. Dermovate is another cream, it is a topic steroid cream for any kind of skin rashes but systral is better if you got bitten. Hope you get better soon! Take care, comehome
June 20, 201016 yr There are many moths, caterpillers etc that have little hairs that cause a nasty rash. If you have been gardening or even just brushed past a plant that has the little bugger on then it is enough to give you a nasty rash. I suggest a thorough shower and even cut your nails before because those little hairs get under them and you spread it all over where you scratch. I have had this before and its not nice however at least I didn't scratch my nuts like you:rolleyes:. Bed bugs can also be a problem but if you didn't wake up with them then probably not. There are hundreds of reasons for rashes so I hope you can get the correct diagnosis .
June 20, 201016 yr Bed bugs can also be a problem but if you didn't wake up with them then probably not. Not true, the red bumps show after one has penetrated your skin and begun to deposit feces under the skin only after feeding and the histamine effect your body has to that is what causes your reaction. The itching and red rash/bumps this can take an indeterminate amount of time since there are so many variables I. E. time of infestation, allergic reaction, etc. and the more that burrow the more that can show up at differing intervals.. Edited June 20, 201016 yr by WarpSpeed

I was just going off personal experience as when I am bitten I itch like crazy when I get up. I didn't realise it can sometimes take a while for the bites to appear.
June 21, 201016 yr I would think this is one for the doctors office. It's probably something they've seen before.
