When you go through the Immigration there they usually have a guy saying " Overstay to this line" but what happens if you just dont go to the overstay line and just continue to the Immigration? I have also heard lately that many folks are not being charged for overstay. Has anyone else had this happen lately?

Most likely you'll be hauled back and told to pay.....or have an extended holiday in the IDC. First I've heard of people being let off the fine.

They will catch the overstay and ask why you didn't go to the right lane to fix your overstay. In the event they don't notice, you could be asked to pay another time when you enter or leave Thailand.

Going to the correct line and paying your overstay is the easiest way.

There will be no problem

Because you will pay. The officer at the window will see you are over and direct you inside. My hunch is they will assume you just did not know as you are only lowly stupid farang, mai grot.
