Getting A Tourist Visa In Burma

Featured Replies

Hello!

I'm a 24 year old U.S. citizen and I entered Thailand from Laos with the 2 week visa. I'm interested in getting a 60 day tourist visa with multiple entries or just a single entry because I'm now in Thailand with just the 2 week stamp. I've been told this can only be done by applying for it a Thai Embassy however In Panang, Malaysia I was able to get a tourist visa through a tour company without needing to visit a Thai Embassy. I am headed to southern Thailand now and am hoping I can visit one of the Burmese borders on the way down to get a similar tourist visa and am trying to avoid the lengthy trip into Vientienne just for the tourist 60 day visa. Does anyone know if its possible to attain a 60 day tourist visa at either of the two border crossings passed between Bangkok and Surat Thani (Muang Prachuap Kilikan or Ranong)?

I understand you must be out of the country in order to apply and get a tourist visa however am hoping I don't need to find a Thai Embassy. Are there any possibilities in applying for a toursit visa in Bangkok so then when I cross a border and come back into Thailand and have the visa ready?

No. Only Cambodia offers service from just inside border.

You cannot get a visa at any border crossing.

If you don't have a tourist visa with extension before then Penang or Kotha Bahru is the likely to give you an 60 day tourist visa, this can be extended with 30 days at immigrations in Thailand.

And when you entered Thailand you did not get a two week visa, you got an 15 day visa exempt stamp.

Entering Thailand by air gives you a 30 day visa exempt stamp, at land borders only 15 days.
