Pattaya Tourist Police shut down football gambling operation

PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Tuesday Morning it was the turn of the Pattaya Tourist Police to announce the arrest of a suspected Football Gambling Agent. All Police Divisions have been told to be on the lookout for football gamblers especially during the FIFA World Cup as gambling is illegally here in Thailand. Police Major Arun, the Inspector-in-Charge of the station announced the arrest of Khun Girapat aged 35 outside the Tuk.Com Center on the South Pattaya Road and the seizure of lists indicating teams and betting odds. Bank Books belonging to the suspect were also seized and taken into evidence and indicated regular deposits of 20,000 Baht per month. Khun Girapat claimed his customers were mainly teenagers from the Pattaya area who would bet with relatively small amounts of money. Despite this the suspect was charged and later transferred to Pattaya Police Station for processing.

And you wonder why you can never find a tourist police to clamp down on crimes against tourists.

Small time operator. Deposits 20,000 baht/month into bank, hel_l the police want double that to look the other way. I base this on the Gambler who gave name of police she paid 40,000/month and this seems to the going price in CM to operate a local den.
