Run Needed For Multiple Visas?

Featured Replies

I've never dealt with getting multiple visas at once, but my wife is chinese and we will be arriving in Thailand on VOA's (I'm american). Since she only gets 15 days and I get 30, I was thinking about her getting 2 back to back VOA's. I am guessing that if she does this, she wouldn't need to leave Thailand after the first one expires (kinda would defeat the purpose of getting two at the same time). But, I figured it would be best to verify here before doing it.

Does she need to leave between the two?

Also, are tourist visas still free, or are they charging for them again? I read they were going to stop being free starting around June 2, but with he low tourism numbers, I would think they would drop the fees to get tourists here.

Thanks!

To get an additional visa on arrival you must leave the country and arrive again. The first one will end the date you leave, the next will start the date you re-enter.

Best thing to do is to get a tourist visa before you come, this will give you 60 days, and I think 30 for your wife. Yes they are free until March 2011.

Like GuavaGirl states.

Must go for a border run after 15 days or get a visa at a Thai consulate.

Also as Chinese she must have a ticket out of the country within 15 days to get even a 15 day visa exempt stamp.

Normally not enforced by immigrations but by airline check-in.

Go and get a proper tourist visa at a consulate.

As an American, you would not get a VOA. You would get a visa exempt entry for 30 days, if arriving by air. If you do a border run with your wife, you'd get 15 days if arriving overland.

Correct as Terry states.

The multi was getting new VOA after having one (new return) and if the second one would be free. It was not a multi entry visa.

Believe onward ticket is checked for VOA entry during the process of obtaining the visa.
