Hi,

I am in Thailand on a Tourist visa and have been offered work by a small internet company that can sponsor one more foreigner. From what I have read I need to:

  1. Get a letter offering employment
  2. Travel out of the country? (Vientianne? Kolkata?? KL?)
  3. Apply for a Non B visa showing my letter (any other docs required?)
  4. Get NB visa and re-enter Thailand
  5. Apply for work permit

Is this correct?

Thanks,

JD

No, first apply for the work permit and when approved take the WP3 receipt to a Thai embassy or consulate for a non-immigrant "B" visa. Return with the Non "B" visa to the Labor Department for your official work permit. You can apply for the work permit with a tourist visa. Your company should be able to help you with the work permit application process.

Thanks. Unfortunately my employer will not help with the process apart from signing what I put in front of him. So I need to find out exactly what is required myself.

Apologies if this information is listed somewhere but I cannot find anything but conflicting advice.

To apply for the WP, what documents do I need from my employer? A letter offering employment with the salary? Copies of their documents of incorporation?

I am in Samui - can i apply for the WP here?

Do I only need to take the receipt for my WP application to a Thai consulate? No other documents? Are any Thai consulates better to apply for the Non B visa than others? Will this visa last on year?

I am from NZ - do I need to show a minimum salary? I have rea that minimum salary is only for an extension to the visa - if the visa is for a year I will not need to stay longer.

What costs involved for my employer?

Sorry for the barrage of questions!

JD

Hi, Sorry to bump this question. I was wondering if anyone knows what I need to ask my potential employer to supply to apply for a work permit? I could not find these details on-line. Specifically he wants to know if there are any costs involved for him.

Cheers,

JD
