June 26, 201016 yr Trying to understand this completely. Thanks for you patience. Is this right???? If I get a multiple entry TR visa from Vientiane it will allow me to enter Thailand for 60 days and then extend at immigration for another 30 days. If I leave and return just before my visa expires at the end of the 90 days, I can get another 60+30 days?? If this is all right, is this the normal way people stay for 6 months or so?
June 26, 201016 yr It would be a two entry visa and have to be used (both entries) during the 90 days from day of issue allowed on the visa. So 60 + about 29 - depart/enter 60 + 30. You want to make sure second entry is while visa is valid (the day before expiration date on the visa itself). Most people try to obtain a non immigrant visa entry for long term stay but failing that tourist visas are the best alternative.

Thanks for not getting sick of hearing the same questions everyday! Thailand definitely has some crazy immigration rules!
June 26, 201016 yr Author One more question man. I believe one of the requirements for the TR visa is to show and exit ticket from Thailand. Would I show them a ticket for leaving after the initial 60 days or for leaving after 90 days, knowing that I will get the extension?
June 26, 201016 yr I agree that loburi3 is the MAN when it comes to answering your visa concerns. I arrived on a tourist visa 3 years ago (tourist visa plus 2 reentries) and no you do not have to show an exit ticket (at least I did not have to).Like loburi3 stated you need to get the extension a day or 2 before your 60 day expiration and you will be fine. Same as when you go for your second entry. Do not wait until the day of expiration, but cross a border and come back in before your current visa expires and you will be fine. June 26, 201016 yr Some Consulates may ask to see tickets to issue a visa but many do not. You will not normally be asked by Immigration. It is the visa exempt entry that could be a ticket problem as airlines often check and Immigration occasionally does.
June 26, 201016 yr It would be a two entry visa and have to be used (both entries) during the 90 days from day of issue allowed on the visa. I'm confused by this. Does this mean both entries have to take place within 90 days from the issuance of the visa?

Does this mean both entries have to take place within 90 days from the issuance of the visa? If obtained from Vientienne yes. The Visa will have printed on it "Use by" or "Enter by" or something similar. Visas obtained elsewhere may have a longer validity.
