It appears you had a 30 day visa exempt entry rather than a visa entry. You could not extend that more than 7 days but you are already overstay so that may not an option. You could make a border run to obtain 15 days (most people do not get 30 days at a land border anymore) and pay your overstay there. There is a small risk involved if checked before making it to border and overstay found you could be arrested - but that also applies anywhere. You could visit immigration with less than seven days to flight and outgoing ticket and try to obtain a 7 day extension (with payment of current overstay) but it may not be approved. So that leaves the airport payment on departure.

A trip to Cambodia by road would expose you to random police checks. Since you are leaving Thailand on July 5th I would go to immigration with your plane ticket, pay your overstay fine, and try to get a 7 day extension (cost 1,900 baht + fine). A 7 day extension is all that is allowed and would get you to within a day of departure, or you could wait until Tuesday to go to immigration and if successful be covered until departure. You are subject to arrest if stopped by the police for anything.

Not sure what your finances are like. But if you have the money another option is to get a cheap return flight to a nearby country. You can fly in and out on the same day. This will give you another 30 days. You will still have to pay the overstay for the days you have currently over stayed. But in the end it may cost less than the 6,500 you will be charged at the airport the day you leave.

I have never heard of anybody being arrested at immigration for overstay, they have been known to tell people to just pay the fine at the airport.

Hi dmax,

I saw that u joind this forum in 2007 which means that u should know about all the immigration related problems,

two options.

1. Go for border run and pay overstay (500 Bt/day) and get a 15 day stamp.

If you go Cambodia also must pay for a Cambodia visa.

2. Don't do any thing illegal, go to the airport when leaving and pay the overstay fine (500 bt/day, max 20.000 bt)

I know people that have been here for 16 years on overstay.

I think the best advice here is just pay at the airport as going to cambo exposes you to random checks as mentioned above. You could of course if ur in bkk take Jack's Golf visa run bus to Poi Pet. Those are the only 2 options I think are worthy. I wouldnt go to immigration, as stated they will likely just tell you to pay at airport.
