once again i travel on my falang owned bike, with green book, insurance, international licence and road tax, all singing and dancing full of excitement and anticipation. 20 mins into the journey and the innevtable happens, our friendly policeman waves me in, "ok no problem have everything good good, now give me 200bht for worldcup", <deleted>, why are they such <deleted>, i frequently ride past and fein i cannot see them, normaly works but sometimes its impossible, last week, 1000bht, for no tax and wrong license, i have a licencse and my bike is taxed,<deleted>, my friend 1000bht, no tax and no license, ok he didnt have it on him and its a hire bike, then we discover it is in tax, because we cannot read thai he tried it on an got a result , stupin falang, he tells me "international license no good mr"<deleted> ISGOING ON. we can harp on all day regarding what they are doing for tourism and expats, i live here 10 months of the year so im not 100% expat but nevertheless its a bummer everytime you go out for a run. Do we keep paying or kick up a fuss and make it worse, i ask for "bin krap"then they leave me for 1 hour then say "ok go now" <deleted>

Try to learn some basic Thai language and it will be help you to get rid of them in this cases.

Interesting that, I've never been stopped on my bike, only in the car! I must look respectable but they can't tell when I'm driving the car because the windows are tinted.

it's only £4, no tax and no licence the other week only £20, i know it would be alot more than that in blighty, 'ride with it' (sorry)

Strange, never happened to me, neither in car nor bike (except the big checks when everybody is stopped).

know a German guy

when he is stopped in his merc and asked for his license he says: "mi mee."

When he asked for ID he says: "Mi mee!"

when he asked for dosh: he says: "Mi mee!"

When he is asked for anything he says:"Mi mee!"

They eventually get bored and let him go.

I have ridden all around Thailand and never been bothered by the BIB apart from in Hua Hin. That is the only place where they have hassled me for cash. The last time I was stopped there I had my helmet on, lights on, bike was all legal and had my license. After walking round the bike several times he asked me to start it. He suddenly smiled. Ah too loud he said,,,,, 200 baht.

You haven't been to Pattaya then....regular stops on Suk all the time. Mostly bikes, but also red tagged cars and trucks. See it all the time. Not sure why I have not been stopped yet. But I know where they hole up (under a big tree) and move to the slow lane just before that. Usually, the vehicle in the fast lane is pulled over. And almost all bikes...at least enough to keep them in tea money...

This may be the way to go... speed when the road is free, enjoy life and fork out the occasional 100 baht bill to cover the speeding.
