Honda Ftr, Yamaha Tw

Featured Replies

Hi,

I live in Chiang Mai for three month now and will stay for two years probably. I bought a Honda Nova, because of my low budget first, but want to buy another one in October.

Mostly I'm gonna drive on the road, but want to go to the mountains on weekends and do some off-road tours too. So I think about buying a "enduro", which is good for doing both. But bikes like the Yamaha WR250X for example is too much off-road for me. I fell in love with the Honda FTR, but read, that they are for 99% not legal in Thailand. I don't wanna buy a motorbike without greenbook, because of following reasons:

- I get a fine or the police will keep it

- I cannot go to Laos, etc.

- It's hard to sell it later

Do you know if there are any legal Honda FTR or Yamaha TW alike motorbikes available or if there is a way to get a legal Honda FTR?

Thanks in advance.

Legal FTR and TW do appear on the market in the varies classifieds, but a legal very good condition example will have an asking price close to a used Kawasaki KLX. There's a dealer across the corner from the Airport plaza that regularly carries the bikes your interested in.

Best advice around is to take the book, for the bike you wish to purchase, to the transfer office first, before handing over any money when buying a used bike. Non issue with a used, new model KLX though.

Cheers
