"ผ่านเลยไป"

Friends,

A little help with a sentence:

"เรื่องเงินเฟ้อ เป็นเรื่องใหญ่ที่จะผ่านเลยไปไม่ได้เพราะหมายถึงกำลังซื้อและค่าเงินในกระเป๋าลดลง"

Does this sentence mean:

"Inflation is a major issue which cannot be overlooked because [inflation] means that one's purchasing power and the amount of money one has in one's pocket are both reduced.

My particular question is whether "ผ่านเลยไป" means "to overlook" or "ignore".

I'm not sure I can see a difference between 'can't overlook' and 'can't ignore' here - but I did want to say that I think the last part of the sentence should be

...the value of the money in one's pocket (not the "amount", which remains the same regardless; its how much it's worth (ค่า) that's affected by inflation).

Your point on "value" vs. "amount" is well taken; thanks. As for the primary question, I misstated my intent. I was not looking for whether "overlook" or "ignore" was appropriate, but, rather, whether the notions of "overlook" and "ignore" were within the meaning of the sentence or whether there was some other meaning to the subject phrase. Sorry.

I am sure the opinion of a native Thai speaker is what you seek, but for what it is worth, I think both 'overlook' and 'ignore' are excellent idiomatic translations of ผ่านเลยไป here, and that the phrase is just a case where Thai uses a slightly different metaphor than English; the core meaning of ผ่านเลยไป is probably more like 'bypass', but that would not sound idiomatic in English, at least not in this particular context.
