Hi Guys,

I am sure I have seen this question before but could not find it when I searched.

Question

Can I apply for the retirement extensions during a 15 day border run?

Back ground info

My last 90 days runs out 1st September

Money (800,000) in bank about middle to end of July

Border run to Lao (15 days)1st September to 15th September

Money will be seeded about 16th September

Second border run 15th Sept to 29th Sept–(15 days)------Then can I apply for Retirement extensions ?

Thanks for any help :wai:

The previous published requirement was 21 days raminging on permitted to stay but recently they have been allowing less and perhaps as little as 7 days. You might find it better to obtain another single entry non immigrant O visa rather than making two trips and the extra conversion step.

Hi Lopburi3, :wai:

Would a tourist visa from Lao suffice ?

I will only be (I would think) less than 20 days past the expiry of my Imm O (well my last 90 days anyway, so I would have 40 days left on my tourist visa to apply ??

Or, have I got it wrong

Thanks for the quick reply btw

The suggestion is to just apply for a non-O visa in Vientianne and return with that one to Thailand. That will give you enough time and no need to convert.

Take you bank account book with you and apply for non-o based on retirement and there should be no problem. met a fellow in mai Hong Song in Feb. he wanted a non-o for retirement but will not put money in Thai bank guess what he got tourist visa.

Can anyone give me a link to any posts giving advice on how to do this please.

I will do a search (as I usually do first) but I can never find the posts I want.

Thanks again guys :wai: :wai:
