Hi, Just a word of caution to anyone who may be as careless as me.I had a one year Non Immigrant O Visa which I obtained in the UK.My year was up my last admitted until stamp was July 12.Having read that one utomatically gets another 3 months tagged on the end of this (effectively making it a 15 month Visa) I toodled up to Ventien last Friday the 9th and came back on Saturday the 10th.

The Thai immigration guy seemed to take great delight in picking up that my original visa said " Enter before 9 July 2010" something which I foolishly had not bothered to look at,having assumed that the admited until stamp was what would apply.

So I had missed out by one day and was given a 15 day Visa, readers can imagine that I was not very happy but obviously there is no point in making an issue with the immigration people,if one does they probably will not let you in at all.

I need some advice please, I want to remain in Thailand I know lots of Falangs go up to Ventiene and (at the moment get a 60 day visa for free) in effect all that has happened is that my carlesness has meant that I have to start this process 3 months earlier than anticipated!!

What I would like to know is can one do this 60 day visa run on an ongoing basis I do not mind going up to Ventiene (it is a nice Town) and the $35 visa charge does not break the bank. Is it the case that one can just nip up to Ventiene every 2 months on an ongoing permanent basis and that one will continue to be admitted to Thailand.

As I hope to stay in Thailand permanently obviously a one year Visa would be preferable.I do not have enough money for the 55000 Baht minimum requirement so a retirement Visa is out. As the requirement of the Non immigrant type O was 40000 Baht per Month I have been bringing this in and have Bank Statements to confirm this.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be really interested and grateful to hear them

Vientienne will issue a Double Entry Tourist Visa free of charge. They may start asking questions after a few back to back applications.

The Retirement Extension is 65,000 Baht a month income or 800,000 in the bank.

There is no 40,000 a month requirement for a Non Imm O Visa if you qualify.
