Social Visa

Featured Replies

I'm travelling thru asia with my family and am wanting to spend around 6 months in Thailand. Can anyone tell me what sort of visa would suit us? and we currently have one way tickets, do we need a return?

I am living in Bali but doing a trip back to Perth, Australia so is it easier to visit the Thai embassy there rather than here in Indonesia?

thank you for your help, robbie

you're lucky, Perth is one of the easiest Thai consulates.

I assume a double entry tourist visa would suit you, when you enter Thailand you'll get 60 days, but you can extend a further 30 days at an immigration office.

You can leave and return to Thailand once (just a quick hop over a border will do) and you will get another 60 days, again possible to extend for 30 days.

Just make sure you keep an eye on the "use before" date stamped on your tourist visa (on the visa itself issued by the consulate, NOT the stamp you get when entering Thailand!) Your second entry has to be BEFORE that date!

If you have a tourist visa you do not need a return ticket, a one way will do just fine.

Do note that the consulate in Perth is open only 2 days a week!

If you have a friend in Thailand and he copies his ID-card and writes a simple noe asking for a visa for you, you might even get a mutiple entry non-O. It wil cost, but gives up to almost 15 months.
