hi<div><br></div><div>i am wondering if anyone has knowledge of munich airport.  my thai g/f and i are going to the uk via munich airport.  we are fly air berlin to munich and then easyjet to uk.  we will be in'transit for 5 hours.   she has a uk visa but i want to know if she'll need a schengen visa or will she be classed as 'in-transit'?</div><div><br></div><div>both airlines fly to/ from the same terminal and we can check-in online with easyjet so theoretically she won't need to go through immigration and check-in again.</div><div><br></div><div>hope someone has some useful advice.</div><div><br></div><div>thanks</div><div>james</div>

I forgot to ask about your baggage.Do you have to get it in Munich? If yes you have to go through immigration.

the bags will be checked in in bangkok under my name so i'll go through immigration, collect the bags and check-in while my g/f stays in-transit. this should be ok?

Ask your airline if they will automatically transfer the luggage to your connection flight or not.If not you will have to exit the transit lounge and will need a visa.

Is there something unique about Easyjet that you can not simply check the bags through from BKK to your final destination? As Newbie pointed out, you both are just in transit in Munich, traveling internationally. I have found that I can check bags from my origin to my final destination regardless of whether or not the different airlines are partnered (e.g., Star Alliance).

when arriving in munich you will have to go with the gf to the easy jet counter to pick up your boarding passes. they will want to see her.if it is not in the transit area you will both have to go through customs and security. it is better to stay together while travelling outside of your country anyway.you should not leave her behing without her travel documents. just a thought.

Some airlines are end to end carriers, that goes especially for the price fighters. They will just off-load your luggage at the destination and you have to take care of getting it to another airline/flight yourself. That is why the OP should check if the carrier will arrange for the transit or not.

Regarding the above: Munich airport have replied with the following:

Thank you for your e-mail.

I just talked to the Borderpolice and also to the Handlingagent of Easyjet.

Your wife has to stay in the Transit area. She need´s her passport there.

You can`t do the check-in in the Public area for your wife.

The best would be, if your wife gets a Transitvisa.
