Hi. I heard that getting a tourist visa (single or double) is difficult fro Philippines even for a U.S. Citizen. I travel there often. WIll I need to go some where else?Cheers, - J

Where did you hear that?

I went earlier this year. You only need a visa if your stay is over 21 days.

I got mine at the embassy in Bangkok. You need flight ticket, passport photo and it takes 3 days.

No problem when I applied, but you have to go to the embassy in person (which is a pain if you live far from Bkk).

This is the Thailand visa section and suspect he is talking about getting a visa to Thailand in the Philippines (From Philippines). And that is problematic as Royal Thai Embassy has a long history of being obstructive to any visa issue and using "come back with" until applicants give up or run out of time. That said there have been several recent reports of success so perhaps someone has taken action to correct this situation. I would give it a try and please report back.

Completely agree with Lop...I'm middle-aged American and tried to get a T-visa a couple years back on a visit to the Philippines. Even for this "easiest" visa category, they wanted a stack of documents like proof of onward travel from Thailand (already purchased ticket), hotel confirmation for Thailand, proof of funds (credit-card, travelers checks, cash, Thai bank statements,) etc. If you have copies of these documents...they will pull the "must be originals" line...if you happen to have the originals (because you read this post), they will come up with some other BS requirement for you to fulfill.

I would say don't waste your time...like Lop says, they will basically put up multiple hurdles to deny issuing a visa...ever to those on Western passports.
