Hi All,

Apologies if this post repeats old news, I did a quick search but didn't find anything.

I am in the process of moving to Thailand already and have come across a new business idea I am interested in exploring.

This concept would require me to buy some equipment from China, specifically 2 machines.

Where is the best place to look online to work out what duty these machines are likely to attract?

Thanks in advance!

Expect to pay up to 200% with some additional costs. The tafifs will be fased out over the next 5 years but for now its like that.

Maybe machinery will come sooner but I dont know

The only other solution is to fins someone inporting from China who gets it in for free. This happens alot but you need to know a contact

Or get the supplier to make you a proper invoive with 30% cheaper price or more but there is a risk if customs dont beleive the price.

contact CTI Logistics in Bangkok and ask for their customs manager. he will want a brochure showing details of the machine and country of manufacture. This has been my field for 34 years. I doubt it will be up to 200%. Without knowing what the machine is no one can say what the duty rate is.

I found out recently that if you're doing business in Northern Thailand, there is some sort of FTA between CM area, Laos, Southern China (or a border area in China) and another country. I can't remember all the details, but it was related to getting product to Australia cheaper (because of the Thai-Aus FTA) if you were getting materials from China, manufacturing in CM and exporting to Aus.
