I am very interested to hear from people who have made Ayutthaya their home, even for a short period. In a years time, I finish an MA course in England, and will then move to Thailand - maybe for a couple of years, or maybe permanetly. I always had Chiang Mai in mind as my ideal destination. However, the more I think, the more I desire another path; something less well-trodden.

I have only been to Ayuttaya once, and loved it. Something very special, and I'm fascinated by the history of the place.

Is there an ex-pat community in Ayuttaya? If so, are there jobs available in the TEFL profession? I remember seeing a few EFL-type institutions, and I also recall that Ayutthaya has many students. I imagine that renting a house would be cheap and quite easy. Does anybody have information on what type of house I could get, and how much it'd cost?

I am also interested in improving my Thai, and hopefully becoming proficient. Is Ayuttaya a good place to take lessons?

All of my questions can be categorised as 'Ayuttaya residency queries.' Gyms, people, nightlife, community, costs, work, study. One of the things I wanted to do in C.Mai was the Year-Long Education-visa offered by CMU. Does Ayutthaya have the same opportunities?

Many thanks, and I would appreciate any links or advice,

--Daniel
