Hua Hin

Hello there. I am planning on going to Hua Hin for two or three nights next month with my Thai GF. Neither of us have been to Hau Hin before. I would greatly appreciate recommendations for hotels. We would like something modern, not to far from the nightlife or beach (if that's possible), preferably have Internet in room and a bath, but not essential. Cleanliness is a must. As this is my third trip this year I am pretty low on funds so I would like to pay as little as possible and no more than 1500 bhat/£30

Is this possible as hotels seemed pretty expensive when I looked on Agoda. Also are there any gyms you can recommend.

After Hua Hin we will travel to Samui by bus and boat. However I have no idea how to go about this. Again any recommendations on travel will also be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Went to Hua Hin last year and stayed at the Holiday Inn. Lovely hotel right on the beach with great western beakfast and local shops and restaurants within walking distance. I paid about 1400 baht a night inclusive of breakfast. Check with Thai Visa Hotels as they seem to be cheaper than Agoda. Good luck and enjoy

Thanks for your reply. The only Holiday Inn hotel I can find is a resort which is from 5000 bhat per night upwards. Would u have a link for the above Holiday Inn?

Thanks

The Holiday Inn is nearer Cha-am than downtown Hua Hin, and you would either need to rent a car or rely on taxis to get into Hua Hin, that said it's a nice resort and they do have deals sometimes.

If you don't want to pay hotels prices and want to stay in the centre of things there are plenty of guest houses under 800 Baht a night though you wouldn't get a gym. I normally stay at Jings, it is pretty good.

I have a car now so I tend to stay out of the town centre, but prior to that I would stay at the Fresh Inn, directly opposite the Hilton and right in the middle of town near all the bars and restaurants, walking distance to night market etc. For good seafood et that Chao Talay restaurant on one of the piers, the best along that stretch and again close to Fresh Inn.

As for getting to samui, the train stops at Hua Hin and the buses heading south will also stop at Hua Hin. From there I would get bus to Chumporn (?) and get the high speed ferry from there.

Lomprayah have a direct service by bus and ferry from Hua Hin to Koh Samui - sorry do not have any contact details but you should not have any trouble finding them. Fresh Inn is OK but can be a bit noisy - especially around 0200 in the morning. Rooms clean but a bit basic and no bath.

I just got back from Hua Hin this week. I stayed at the Celtic Inn guesthouse on soi 55. It was very clean, air con, freshly painted, big bathroom with great water pressure, nice bed, and furniture, free wi-fi, TV with cable, but only 2 English channels in Hua Hin. A bit small, but not claustrophobic and had a good sized balcony. The owner and staff were great, and very helpful. It was only 600 baht a night. I also rented a new Click motorbike from them for 1000 for the week. There is a restaurant downstairs, the one meal I had there was good. The place next door had a bigger menu so we ate there most of the time. You can walk to the bus, and to several different places that have van's to KohSamui and BKK from there. The night life is a longer walk, if you don't rent a motorbike, you might want to take a motorbike taxi, or a tuk tuk on your way back. Thee are several other hotels and guest houses on that soi in the 500-1000 baht range. I was very happy with the Celtic and where it was located. I did spend the first night in another hotel, but won't mention them or recommend them. They weren't bad, just didn't feel secure there.

City Beach Hotel is alright.. very central, close to beach, bars, night market, about your price range & right next door to the cop shop..

Mrs Gos' and i stayed there a couple of year ago.. got (or had) its own nightclub in the basement.. if we ever went back, it would be on the shortlist.

http://www.citybeachhuahin.com/ .(ignore the rates shown on their own site, can be gotten far cheaper through Sawasdee for sure, or Thaivisa travel ?)
