I really need some advice

My wife got the call last thursday telling her to come to the embassy between mon and thursday to answer a few questions.

The lady on the phone only mentioned that she bring in the fee.

The letter arrived today and inside was a checklist - i sent a comprehensive folder of copies last week and am happy that everything is there.

Now, i sent copies of my passport and the lease to my house. The original lease is with my wife in Thailand and she will take it along. Neither had been attested.

It would be apparant that the lease was unattested. Would the embassy have told my wife either by phone or in writing if any of the information submitted was insufficient?

What would be the effect if my wife attends and say they require to see my original passport and i am not present?

If anyone can offer advice i would be so greatful

My wife only had a photocopy of my passport when she went for the interview at UK embassy, but she also had a translation of the land deeds.

Dan, calm down!

You submitted all your documents with the application, correct?

The telephone call your wife received means that the ECO is happy that the documents show she meets the criteria and is therefore "minded to grant" the visa. The checklist with the confirmation letter is just standard procedure, you have, after all, already submitted those documents. If there was a doubt over them then she would have been given a specific date and time to attend for a full interview. "Come in anytime" means just a few questions to maybe clarify a couple of points and then she gets the visa.

Congrats!

if the embassy decided at the short interview that they were not happy with something, what would they do?

Has anybody had a bad experience, been turned down or something after having a short interview?

GU22 i wish i could relax but it means a lot this visa, im sure it does to all. I got a little boy whos growing up fast (4months) and im missing it all!!!!!

Thanks for the calming words

Theoretically it's possible that they could refuse, but I have never heard of this happening.

As long as her answers are consistent with the documents she'll be ok. Remember, if they were not already sure about the genuineness of the application then they would not have asked her in for a short interview.

I know what it's like, been there myself. Just try to relax.

My GF had the short interview a couple of months ago. She was in there 5 mins.

They asked:- my name, where we met, what i did for a job, who i lived with, why she wanted to come to england that was basically it!!

Good luck!!!!

Big Spuds,

When you sent the application in did you send copies or originals?

If you sent copies did they ask your GF to show any of the original documents?

Just want to make sure we dott the i's and cross the t's.

Thanks

They normally want to see originals or attested copies. If she only submitted non-attested copies with the application then take the originals with her to the interview just in case they want to check.

But remember, if they were not happy with the application then they would not have given her a short interview.

we sent originals at the time we paid (submitted apllication) only kept back copies of birth certs which we told we would submit at the interview.
