Bank Interest Rates For Thais

Recommended Posts

Do a forum search on "interest rates thailand" to find earlier threads on this topic ... there's a page in the Bank of Thailand web site (mentioned in some of these earlier threads) that gives a listing of what the various banks are offering by way of bank deposit & term deposit rates.

Look on the home page of a few bank sites - bangkokbank.com, kbank, scb. Consider a Bill of Exchange rather than a regular deposit (Thais not farang) for a slightly higher rate (unsecured); or bond funds via the asset management companies.

That's good advice; I would reccomend similar as the OP asked specifically about investment through a bank. Foreigners are limited in what they can invest in through a bank (index-funds and Long-Term Mutual Funds) and Thais aren't. A Thai with THB200,000 could invest a portion in government bonds and corporate debentures, offering the highest returns and risk from a Bank, which foreigners can't unless they have a Permanent Resident Permit.
