I already have a flip down screen with built-in DVD player.......paid a whole lot more that 3000 baht. The next time I buy a car I'm going to check with MRO before I add ANYTHING to it......he knows where all the great stuff is at for the best price too

ME TOO! :)

i need good prices for the following:

- New set of wheels/rims. default GT=17" alloy. I'd like to have 19" or 20" with spinners hehe.

- Break pads (Brembo (color=red)) for show, many thais have these, me want tooooo ;)

- Flashing (strobe) lights (color=white) behind front grill and underneath back of the car, for show, not during driving ofcourse.

- Additional sound horn (not replacement, but secondary)

- different exhaust(pipe-end) looking part (preferable chrome look and double/twin) just for looks as well

This is for the NEW 2011 pjs which is scheduled for Jan2011, so I dont have the car right now. However... it would be lovely to know the prices and which "car pimp garage" to visit overhere in bangkok :D not sure if the dealer where i will be buying the new PJS will be able to give me good discounts or free stuff like this... any advice is welcome MRO ;)

PS. MRO where u staying in TH? Also BKK ?

Here's some starters:

For Wheels: http://www.nvyangyon...UCT/ListAll.asp (click Mitsubishi then Pajero in the drop-downs)

For the other accessories (brake caliper covers, horns and exhaust tip and LED's): http://www.nekketsu-racing.com/ or http://www.rstyleracing.com or Khlong Thom Markets

Always cheaper to source yourself - if done at the dealer they'll just outsource it and you'll pay a commission on top..

PS. MRO where u staying in TH? Also BKK ?

Currently at my Oasis by the Moon (mun) River ;) But depending on mood and time of year, BKK, Chiangmai, or Pattaya..

If you feel you can remember to use the power button on the wdtv remote to turn it on and off, you could leave it connected to permanent power which reduces start-up time to a few seconds (faster than the LCD's start-up) and gives you resume capability. Alternatively, add a delayed-off power circuit like I've done so it doesn't switch off during shorter stops (mine is set to keep power on for 15 mins).

The eepc is a good idea for music perhaps, but the mouse part will be tricky (still haven't looked into that - no need for me now) and as none of these smaller PC's will play HD streams properly they're useless for my video library, so I canned the idea.

The stereo in the 2011 PJS seems to be an OEM unit, not an Alpine like the 2009-2010 model. No idea if it even supports a AUX video input, and doubtful it'll support a touchscreen USB mouse out.

Thanks MRO, hope you're enjoying your road-trip - and the offer of leaving you a six-pack somewhere in CM still stands - or a bottle of Bin2 or 8 perhaps??.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm not getting any use out of the touch-screen and I'm not enjoying converting/burning discs for the car. If the unit had usb support, I'd be happy with that. But as is, burning a new disc all the time is tedious. I'm not much interested in video output. So either the EePC or WDTV could handle lossless in a plug-and-play manner. The WDTV would be less messy on the eye than the EePC, but then the EePC might come in handy for internet use, and it can scrobble (hardly important though).

Fifty - fifty at this stage, so just looking for that one thing which would tip the balance, which I was also asking about the unit in the new model.

Road trip is going great :) The PJS just keeps on proving itself to be the best tourer available in Thailand under 6M Baht. Have done 3000KM since Boxing day, with 5-7 people and their luggage, on some of Thailand's best and worst roads - no matter what you throw at it, it never fails to impress :D

As for the wine, depends on vintage, heh. Bin 8 is great out of bottle, but an early 2000's Bin2 with an hour's worth of breathing is a pretty hard drop to beat for the money ;)

Have you looked into just upgrading the DVD player itself? The DVA-9861E that comes with the car is a 2006 model - there's newer Alpine models that will do USB (and bluetooth/iPod) that can interface with your existing TM7 touch screen. May be worth researching..

Yeah... 27k for the Alpine replacement (but I think that's the whole touch-screen-in-one version. I need to get to one of the wholesale car audio places down town.

I've only just got my WDTV live set up at home - and just got to playing music for the first time over the break; cant say I like the interface much: I'm used to file tree structure, and this unit only seems to have the option of playing one folder at a time?? (yeah, i need to get on some forums and study up a bit).

As for the wine, I'll have to check - but most are getting on. I recently lost a whole 6-pack of 40-somethings (I aint no connoisseur, but I've been known to blubber on about the value of Bin2.)

Have some 2004 bin 2; a 2004 407... a 2001 bin 28. Take your pick. Let me know where and when to leave it.

Just finished the last leg of the 4800KM New Year road trip - 920KM in 9.5 hours, and fresh as a daisy :D

According to my GPS, average speed while moving (includes a couple of hundred KM of city driving) is 90.9 km/hr, max speed was 157km/hr (170 indicated - not pushing, just driving to [good] road conditions) and overall fuel economy was 12.14 km/l. This is loaded with 5-7 people + luggage, so approx. 550-600KG on board.

Great car!

Must admit, that l am impressed with your input and results on the ride over your period of ownership. . :)

The iphone 4 arrived the other day. So I pop down to the local Alpine dealer to get the cable fitted. It wont charge without an extra adapter (which the boss says is ridiculously expensive); the unit will play music from the iPhone, but the only way to navigate is using the folder browser from the head unit. And nothing is displayed on the video screen. So the cable is effectively useless with the iphone 4, so I passed on it.

Anyone got an iphone 4 integrated with their Alpine unit??

Great car!

I have put 3000km on my PJS since buying it in November and have a few observations ,questions.

Firstly I really love the car, for the price it is a great value and extremely comfortable.

The thing I did'nt pick up on the test drive is how disconnected it feels as soon as you are at cruising speed, this being Thailand I have had to do a few "goat test" lane changes that turned out to be more scary than they should have been, is this something I can get changed at Mitsu (setting on the power steering or something?) . I had a Discovery TD5 and Jeep Cherokee LTD back home and they did not feel nearly as disconnected at speed(over 100kp/h)

The Alpine GPS is a waste IMO. It works fine for long trips but is the most confusing piece of kit I have used in Bangkok, I have missed a vital turn off on every trip across town and have reverted to using the Garmin that came free with the car. Another issues I found was the 'Voice instructions" can only be used on the Aux setting on the radio, thus I cannot listen to music and the gps cuts in , as I am used to with my other cars. Was told by the dealer that the "western" PJS do this but not the thai ones.

Mine has has an issue with one of the cabin lights getting disco fever at times and acting as a in car strobe light, after 2 "fixes" it still does it so will ask them just to take out the bulb next time.

All and all very happy and a big improvement on the fortuner for me especially on Aesthetics in the car and the auto box.

Hi,

I finally bought a 2nd-hand PJS with the advice of the good people here. I asked the Mitsu dealer when I got it serviced if an i-pod/iphone jack could be installed. They quoted me about 3.8kbaht. Anyone know if this is a good price or are they too lazy and quoting me something high to get me off their case?

Anyone have any contacts in Bangkok where I might be able to get it done cheaper?

They also told me they couldnt install the steering controls in mine because mine was a 2008 model and only the 2009 models onwards were compatible. Is this true?

Oh yea, and anyone know a good place to get the window film done?

3,800 is expensive - most Thai internet vendors are selling the KCE-422i for around 1,000 baht including EMS delivery.

For charging iPhone 3g/s and iPhone 4 you'll need the KCX-422TR adaptor as well, which is ~600 Baht from the same vendors.

Installation involves removing the DVD player (tools to remove should be in your glovebox - they're supplied with the car) and plugging the KCE-422i adaptor in, so approx. 60 secs work.

Google will find you some vendors if you search by part number, and limit results to Thailand.

Steering Wheel Controls *can* be installed in any year model PJS, but models w/out cruise control need a bunch of additional parts, which makes it expensive at around 8,000 Baht to mod. Models that have Cruise control can be modded for ~3800 Baht in parts.

Window film = 10,000's of vendors around the country. Ask at a local Mitsu dealership for one they recommend that's close by.

So I plug the KCX-422TR adaptor in first and then the KCE-422i into that?

Any good suggested brands of film?

Sure thing -If you can't speak Thai, you'll need someone to assist though..

Khun Kang (กัง) sells them for 1,000 Baht - phone: 081-633-2364

The KCX-422TR plugs into the iPhone, then the KCE-422i goes from that to the back of the DVD player..

Another vote for 3M film here too, although Lamina and V-Kool have just released all-new ranges of films that are also worth looking into, if you're after something a little cheaper.

Very nice installation there MRO

Here you go then :)

It's a Zulex ZL110A 11" (480p widescreen)

That is strictly a monitor yes? No built in DVD player? I guess you can view DVDs on it that are playing in the stock Alpine head unit right?

In my usage it's purely a monitor, but the LCD does have a TV Tuner in it as well, but would require one of those "rabbit ear" antennas for reception. I'm not bothered with it seeing as I have roughly 4-5 weeks of 720P and 1080P HD video content on the 1TB drive that's connected to the WDTV ;)

Yes, the OEM Alpine stereo plays DVD's and VCD's (also through the screen).

Edit: If you're interested in the screen, here's the number for the vendor I bought mine from: 0864064930. Note that he doesn't speak any English whatsoever, and can't communicate via email, but he does have the absolute best prices around... Most shops around here are asking 7,000-15,000 Baht for an 11" roof screen - I got mine for 3,700 Baht including 2-day delivery by EMS ;)

Where is the guy for the rear TV screens based please MRO? And since this post are you still happy with it? Reason I ask is that I pick up a new PJS next week, and putting in a screen on the roof is one of my priorities. Any other experiences welcome too fellas,

Careful where you get it done, there's a photo here somewhere with nuts and bolts through the roof for his tele.

Vendor was in Bangkok - found them on a Thai langauge forum.

No complaints from the kids, so I guess it's still OK - I never get to see it :)

Had a look around MBK today, there is a couple of shops that have monitors very similar, range from 3500-4500.

Who did the installation for yours?
