2010 overall Thai stock market to thrive

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Experts have predicted that Thai stock index this year in general will continuously rise thanks to the improving economy, but also warned investors to keep an eye on the market adjustments during the third quarter this year.

Country Group Securities Vice President, Aekpittaya lemkongaek, has analyzed that the Thai stock market in 2010 overall will prosper and stand to reap benefits from the capital flowing into the markets in Asia.

In addition, turnover of listed companies will be satisfactory, as expected earlier, while the overall economy will grow by 6-7%, again as earlier predicted. However, Mr Aekpittaya urged that investors be cautious, especially in October; reasoning that the markets could be saturated in the third quarter leading to a big adjustment that might see the index shed up to 10 % of its value.

The vice president also advised that Thai investors monitor the European financial crisis and US economic conditions closely as they have a considerable bearing on the local markets. SET

Mr Aekpittaya expected that the Thai stock market this year in general would be thriving in the range of 840-860 points and could potentially go as high as 950 points.
