The musical virtuoso intends to become Thailand's first winter Olympian in the downhill event in 2014. Vanessa - who has sold more than ten million albums - has been given the green light by the Thai Olympic Committee to compete at the games in Sochi, Russia. She is a British citizen but can apply for Thai citizenship as her father is a Thai national. Vanessa said: "I started skiing at the same age as the violin." She is awaiting final approval from the International Ski Federation.
