Truevision Hook Up To Another Room

i'm in a new build situation and will have the Truevision installed in the bedroom but also want the option to watch in the LR which is (in cable running length) about 10m away.

(Yes, I know I could pay for another box or set up to move the box but I want to try this.)

So, I was thinking of running twisted pair for the audio (red/white) and coax for the picture (yellow) from the bedroom to the LR and using the T-connectors so both TV's receive the same output from the Truevision box. Again, that's about 10m cable run.

So, what do you think? Will the picture qualtiy be OK? A better way to do?

Thanks.

before paying for the second box they at Truevision in Bkk sold me a IR300 with remote, and ran a cable through the wall from bedroom to the living room, it has an Infrared attachment to the one cable box and in the living room is this ir300, you can call them about it at Truevision, they charged me 3000 baht, since I now have two seperate boxes and two separate Satellite connections, so we can watch what we want in both rooms, I have this IR300 up for sale half price or best offer on Thaivisa classifieds and craigslist,

If you are interested let me know, the deal is that whatever you are watching in one room is the same in the other, but if in the living room say, you can use the remote and change the channels in both rooms to the same one, does that make sense? Let them explain and make an offer it is yours I only used it a short time before changing over.

Some years go I had a UBC (now Truevision) cable extention done from my in-house office to the LR, the resulting view in terms of clarity and colour was poor, and of course the program selection was the same on both screens, that is alright if one is a single, but with a wife or gf in the house there will viewing (selection) problems.

Thus if one wants such an extension, then one should go a second complete installation, together with a new roof aerial dish, in terms of costs ... give them a call since, from time to time they have promotions resulting in cost reduction.

A second decoder will be enough and there is no need for a second antenna unless you chose another service provider that broadcasts from another satellite using another frequency band.

This is a very good option I have it installed with a 10 lengh of cable and no signal loss, I also have a third connection to the ir300 with a 25m extension again very little loss but this third connection has no remote you see whatever is selected by one of the other two extensions..

Some of you are, I think, talking about the composite out from the TV box (that's the one that has audio/video combined). I have used that running coax 15 m and it's "OK".

BUT, I want to have the audio on channels (to my receiver) and hopefully a good video signal to the plasma TV. We have Thai-Sat for the natives so my thing is just to be able to watch TV via reciever sound output from one of two places (and if I have to get up and change the channel b/c the box is in bhe bedroom, I'm OK with that.)

So again, does anybody have adivice or alternate suggestion for my original post?

Test any cable before installing in the wall,

especially the video feed.

I remember a demo in a shop, where the salesman changed the standard (cheap)

video part of the AV cable, with a better one.

The change in picture quality was astounding.

If you've got an HD box, connect one TV via HDMI and the other TV via composite cable - not sure if they both output at the same time though (may need to switch via menu).

If you've got a SD box connect the composite to your AR Receiver and use the RF out to the second TV.

A 10m run shouldn't be an issue since your not splitting the signal.

Isn't it as simple as this ?

Not really.

I also split my cable connections - using a Tee piece & RG-6 cable.

But a 10 meter HDMI has to be expensive - thus I think the OP has it right - run a Stereo pair & a video composite the 10 meters to the next room.

Probably his reciever is not HDMI anyway.

Thanks all. I think what I will try - probably with a test first - is to run 10m of 75ohm coax for each of the red/white audio and the yellow video with RCA jack connectors. If that works -OK I'll post back in a few weeks. Cheers. BTW - this is for non-HD Truevision hooking to a copy TV and audio receiver.

At most malls you can buy 10 meter AV composite cables (R-W-Y) not too expensive.

If you need more help tell me what part of BKK you live.

Just noticed your reply -thanks! I don't live in BKK (at the moment it's Udon Thani) - and that's part of the problem. You may not believe how many places I had to go to find RCA connectors for coax around here. NONE of the "local" shops carried (and couldn't understand why I wanted). I finally found some in Robinsons (Central Udon). And I have run the 75ohm coax but haven't tested yet although expectations are high. I'm pretty sure the R-W-Y cables that you pay 1K baht or more are coax - maybe different grade than I came up with but what I have has got to be better than the tiny lamp cord stuff you normally see. Maybe in a month or so - I'll find out. Cheers.
