Nice idea. I dont even think it's possible, when was the last time you opened a UK bank account? I hear that if you are lucky you can plead and maybe they will open a building society account for you. Again, I would rather pay someone to do it for me and save the flight. -

Crime Thai Transwoman Arrested for Pickpocketing Turkish Tourist in Phuket
Photo via Facebook/ Phuket Times ภูเก็ตไทม์ In a swift operation by Patong police, a Thai transwoman was arrested for allegedly pickpocketing a Turkish tourist early this morning, recovering stolen cash amounting to 4,000 baht. The incident occurred on Rat Uthit 100 Years Road in Phuket’s bustling Patong neighbourhood. The 38-year-old Turkish tourist filed a complaint at Patong Police Station around 4am on May 27, expressing suspicion that a transwoman had stolen his cash. Despite not detailing how she approached him or why he suspected her initially, the tourist provided a clear description, allowing the police to locate the suspect quickly. The 42-year-old transwoman, when apprehended, denied the theft. However, a search by officers revealed the missing cash hidden on the left side of her bra. Consequently, she was charged under Section 335 of the Criminal Code, which penalises nighttime theft with one to five years in prison and fines from 20,000 to 100,000 baht. The arrest has stirred discussions online, with a Thai woman commenting on social media about witnessing similar incidents of pickpocketing by transwomen in Soi Paradise, Phuket. She claimed local bystanders were often hesitant to act, as those involved were allegedly linked to an influential gang. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in monitoring and managing crime in tourist-heavy areas like Patong. As authorities continue their investigations, the case serves as a reminder for vigilance among tourists, emphasising the importance of securing personal belongings while enjoying popular travel destinations.
