Hi

I plan to go back to Thailand in 2 years. I Have previously lived in Chiang Mai for 4 years and know the language and culture well, I am 34 years old. I have a thai wife and 2 children.

I currently work in the IT business as an application developer for a major condusultant firm in Sweden, that unfortunately do not have an office in Thailand. In Sweden it is common for senior system developers to register one-man companies and hire them self out. The advantages for the hirering company is less tax, and easier to kick them out if they underperform.

My guestion is if something similar would be possible in Thailand. That is, start up a one-man IT company and work as an consultat at another companies office. Would that mean less hussle with visa, and other paper work for the hiering company?

You must hire 4 Thais (2 if married) in your company to get a work permit.

Are you sure? Doesnt 2m bath i registered company capital give you the right to one work permit?

And yes, I am married

If legally married, 1m baht registered captial and two employees for a Thai limited company, to give you a WP

Though it doesn't have to be paid up, right? And there are legal tricks to that too - such as loaning the money to the director/owner so the numbers add up even with no real cash (does that still work?)

Can anyone point me to a source for that? I have checked with my accounting office and they seem to know nothing about only 2 employees if you are legally married. They insist that it has to be 4
