Overstay On Ed Visa Extension

Recommended Posts

What happens if you overstay a few days on your ED Visa extension? Is the Visa automatically cancelled? Or do you just pay a fine at immigration when you finally go in for the extension?

My exact situation is that I have been in Thailand one year, having come in on an ED Visa and received three subsequent extensions. I remembered my expiration date incorrectly and am now overstayed by two days.

Thanks in advance!

I'd be interested to know where you have been working. I have asked the university in Chiang Mai for an Ed visa (volunteer) and paid $600.00 up front for this. However, it's only weeks to go before my plane flies out, and i haven't heard much at all from them.

do you know if it takes a while to get this through?

Your posting has no relevance to the OP's questions.

If only a few days, they will normally just fine you for overstay at 500 baht a day and extend you.

(If the overstay was because immirgation was closed on the last day of your permission to stay, they normally don't fine if you go to immirgation the first day they are open again).
