Thai Atm Cards Abroad

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not really sure where this post belongs. Mods, if you think it will do better elsewhere, please feel free to move it.

I have used my Thai ATM card (Krung Thai) in Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka with no problems or excessive charges. I'm planning a trip to the UK soon and was wondering if anyone has any experience of using their Thai ATM cards there?

Thanks in advance,

GUANO

I live in the UK most of the year. My SCB atm card works here ok although I confess I haven't had the need to use it here for several years so I couldn't help you on current charges. I normally transfer money from the UK to Thailand not the other way round. Recently bought my new house in Kanchanaburi all paid for by Thai atm withdrawals. Those 150 baht atm charges don't half mount up!

I used my Kasikorn debit card, in atm's and shops, a few weeks ago in the UK and Europe and never once had a problem. A couple of retailers queried the fact that my card isn't chip and pin but swiped it anyway and it worked every time.

Regularly use Bangkok Bank card in UK and Spain with never any problem which is more than can be said for UK card in Spain or Spanish in UK

Thanks for the replies. Looks pretty hopeful then!
