Large Bang And Power Cut

Featured Replies

Last night there was a loud explosion sound and a power cut around Sukhumvit Soi 8 about 8pm (ish) - the French restaurant at the end of the Soi is all roped off with Police crime scene tape and the police are all over the place, does anyone know what happened there?

Sure does. Was there any thunder & lightning at the time?

Those transformers do explode dramatically

It happened just about the time the big storm came in last night, i figured it was just thunder so i didn't think anything of it at the time.

We had that here in Jomtien several nights ago. Huge bang and then...blackness!

If you had looked at the top of the French Restaurant you would have seen..... well, not much since it burned. Apparently cans of gas and candles left on top of gas cans is not the safest thing to do.

hmmmm first it was the coffee shop at paak soi burning down a year or so ago (and just reopened) and now the french restaurant at "toot soi" burning down, both due to gas cans exploding. is it a coincidence or a conspiracy?

Candoman89,

Humorous use of Thai lingo to describe the begining and end of the soi. Thanks for a morning laugh.

I recently saw a Thai TV news item about a terrible, grisly death of a householder who had been exploded off her balcony by a gas cannister blowing up. These things are very dangerous.
