Threading - Hair Removai

Featured Replies

Anyone had fuII face threading done? Seems to be quite popuIar here. When i first read about it i was thinking what an odd thing to do. But then when Iooking at my face cIoseIy i couId see very fine white hairs..which i guess is what peopeIe are having removed. An articIe i read recentIy said peopIe who had it done Iove the way their skin feeIs afterwards. Im curious but my concern wouId be what happens once the hair grows back!

Anyone tried it?

Are you sure they're white, eek? A bit premature for you, I would think. Sounds ominous and foreboding. :o

:D

What is a full face threading? I really am curious and not being flip. jap.gif

Edit: I am guessing it is some sort of hair removal process?

Ok ok..I meant "blond" down hairs.. :P

Graham, yeh, its a hair removing process. Usually on the eyebrows. Ive never tried it. I only just recently read about it being done on the whole face and thought "WTH???"..but after reading it seems it makes the face feel really nice afterwards. I dont think there are any benefits beyond just leaving your skin feeling very nice/soft. I dont mind trying it out to see what all the fuss is about..but only if the hairs dont grow back in a weird way..

Basically its some fine thread applied in a skillful way that removes hairs. Pretty clever actually.

I've got those baby hair blond hairs on my face too. My skin still feels soft. I think if i had dark hair on my face I would get it removed, but you can't see the blond ones and I would be afraid they would grow back all stubbly!! And doesn't the down protect your skin too?

Are you sure they aren't white, Patsy? In case you are unaware, there have been bouts with colour blindness recently in this forum. :( Some of which may be due to reported under-the-weather conditions, which have been known to reduce visibility. This instance does appear as a more age-related symptom. Have you checked yours lately? :o

Kidding aside, how goes it Patsy? It's been awhile since I've pounded the board pavement but nice to see some of the, excuse my choice of words, really, really old posters I recall with fondness still on the board. I hope life is beautiful for you still (and yes, ahem, make-up does help).

Cheers,

Tip :P

Threading seems a strange name to me for hair removal, as it makes me think of addition rather than subtraction, kind of like hair extensions, maybe it's just me. Although after seeing eek's explanation and pic I get it, I do wonder though, how painful is it?

Not that bad, I had my eyebrows threaded in London last year and it was less painful than tweezers simply because the woman was really fast. Just a bit of a sting, is all but no real pain

Not that old, and yes the hairs on my face are blond. How are yours?

I hope you're referring to the hair on my face and not the top of my head. :( The hair on the top of my head is, practically speaking, colourless as it is invisible.

The hair on my chinny chin chin is a deep and wonderfully lustrous auburn. Yea, though I tired of it and like to colour it white these days. :whistling::D

Ooh, ooh! Eek, are you talking about that lady who was written about in this month's issue of Citylife Magazine? I read that too and I really want to check it out. Unfortunately, I can't quite figure out her location based on the description in the magazine...I am sure she'd be open to threading brows only, as opposed to full-face. Then again, that might not be so bad...hmm. I'm on the hunt for the threading lady! :)

Sadie, yes, exactly! I read that and thought.."hmmmmmm??". If i recall correctly the article says shes located in the market across from CMU, right? Ive seen a lady in there threading, so must be her. Its literally directly across from CMU main gate Huay Kaew Road way.

Years ago, i knew a Swiss woman who shaved her face like a man.

She looked ok in the morning, but in the evening she had a five o'clock shadow. And giving her the usual three kiss greeting was like kissing a guy.

Perhaps threading wasn't invented back then?

I really want to get a pedicure with the fishes!! Have any of you tried that?

Can anyone recommend a salon for threading in the Langsuan/Chitlom area? I've decided I'm going to try it when I'm in Bangkok next week but can't find anywhere on the internet other than Squeeze Me spa in Silom.

Hair removal you ask? I think I over did it.

I had never heard of hair threading before now... other than women who weave other hair into their own. Thanks for the post on this topic.

The problem with males growing older is you start losing hair where you want it to grow, and start getting hair where you DON'T want it to grow (nose, ears, etc)

And, because your eyes start losing clarity you don't NOTICE that hair growing off your ears.

Women have an entirely different set of problems. I do know that hair styles can REALLY make a difference in a woman's appearance, and a style that suits one woman will not suit another. I love long hair on a woman, but it didn't suit either of my ex-wives. They both had very thick, dark hair, and short necks. If they grew their hair long it looked like a big mop.

Next time you are in Thailand, Patsy, you can get if for free in small mountain streams west of Kanchanaburi. Just stand still in the clear water pools and the little fish attach themselves to your foot and start nibbling on the dead skin. I've got lots of dead skin and the little fish really loved me. There are also a number of shops that offer the same thing in Chiang Mai. Jimmy's travel has it in his shop.

I took this with my underwater camera

Took my 12 y/o old niece to have her eyebrows threaded today for the first time, very subtle but removed strays & light uni-brow  , she believed me when I told her it didn't hurt (haha) :whistling: but she looked great & will be the envy of her school mates tomorrow morning. 5 quid & done in 5 minutes, just wish they had it around when I was younger, my brows have been waxed & plucked & now I have some thin patches that have to be filled in with brow wax, don't want my niece to make the same mistakes.

Did anyone answer the question, does the hair grow back. I would like to get rid of all the hair below my chin as now when I shave I get those big sores.

I guess it is from razor burn or some such.

The thing is that the sores take months and months to clear up if at all and leave brown spots.

Ouch.

Only way to stop hair growing back is laser, but threading, like waxing, leaves the hairs finer and softer and won't give you ingrown hairs.
