Thai With Mortgage In Uk

Featured Replies

Haven't yet approached our bank, but forewarned is forearmed, so I'm asking you guys first..............

My wife (Thai) and I (British) have a joint mortgage on our house in England. All paperwork is clearly in joint names, so there's no dispute that a Thai person is party to the mortgage debt.

We'd like to send a lump sum (around £50,000 equivalent) back to UK to partly repay the mortgage.

Given restrictions on what Thais can send money abroad for, does anyone know if servicing a debt is acceptable for the local bank to agree to an international transfer? Obviously, I'm assuming there'll be a lot less questions than if I try to do it in my own name!
