Bangkok is killing me moneywise.

But where can somebody go that is not the freakin' jungle and he is not in need of a 4x4?

Where is the place to be, with a normal lifestyle and cheap living?

A beach community like that wouldnt hurt either

That is the question: North or South? To be or not to be?.....

Any personal experiences would be appreciated

:o:D:D

I live in quite a large port about 30 minutes from Pattaya. Have also lived for some time in Isaan and Bangkok. I found the cost of living little different if you are with a thai and understand where to go in each area. The only difference is housing costs. I could buy food and clothes cheaper a lot of the time in Bangkok markets.

If you are talking about property rent you can of course get a property much cheaper here than in Bangkok. It could be there are too many "attractions" in Bangkok to spend money on, whilst not so in small thai towns and villages.

Why do you find Bangkok expensive? :D

Nothing beats Chiang Rai. You might not like it since there's no McDonald's or Starbucks, but I never been to those places (Starbucks ever and McD's in 4 years). I always miss the north when I am out of town.

The south has too much tension and everybody is paranoid. I'm not scared of this shit but it's uncomfortable being around those scary people and tourists always talking about bombs. Koh Samui is the same province and they are also scared talking about bombings going off on boats.

In the north, all is well with the world.
