I have some clothes that I want to donate (slacks, shirts, t-shirts, etc) and some misc items like a textbook, books, etc.

Is there a place around Lat Phrao where I can drop off such items?

Strange that there isn't any donation places in Bangkok. I checked online and couldn't find anything where you can drop off items or they can pick it up. I can drop the items off at a local vendor and they can sell the items (probably worth 5k baht). But I would rather donate the items if possible.

It would appear that Thai are too proud to even think of used goods , If you truly want to donate these and any other items to people that will accept and appreciate anything of use , please put them in a box and send them to me in Cambodia . I would glady deliver and distribute anything of use to village people , my wife and I already take whatever is available , I bring things like spectacles etc from my trips to Canada , the look on an old persons face that can actualy see across the room , can bring tears to ones eyes .

Yes, I have heard that before. That Thai people only want to buy new things. But this seems a little odd. For a poor country, there should be some organized donation system. I know many Thai people donate to the Temple, but those are items that are new (from the store).

Maybe it is an embarrassment to accept a donation of used goods. Or maybe such a donation is never done here and thus does not make sense to Thai people. A non-profit business might be possible. There are enough foreigners living here that would understand the concept, and the wealthy Thai wouldn't mind donating their old stuff.
