Completed an application for a tourist visa to visit the UK next month for myself (Brit) and partner (Thai). She has had a visa before when we went back to the UK 2 years ago so I thought that all would be straightforward. We filled out the online application together, printed and signed and then she went alone to the VFS office to file the application along with all the relevant docs. When she got there was told that the online application form would not be accepted (by VFS staff, not an agent) and was given a new form which was in a completely different format to fill out again.

It was the same form (VAF1) but the order was completely different and I was not there at the same time which was a mistake. Now it could be the case that a perfectly good and legitimate application gets turned down because there is information missing from the new form which was put into the online application.

The staff would then not allow the online application (printed) to be added to the application and my partners written English is not the best so who know what the new application looks like. On top of that you are not allowed to turn on a phone in the VFS office so she was not even allowed to call for assistance.

Just a heads up for anyone doing an online application that it may not be accepted. I went back to complain but was told an online app would be accepted for all other visas but not a tourist visa. It all sounds fishy to me as the form is available online to fill out and even book an appointment so will be a stressful few days wait.

Hope this helps others, note to self - Do not arrange meetings at the same time as the visa app and make sure you go along !!

We have had no issues with submitting on line applications for tourists visa at UK/Vac seems strange.

Maybe were unlucky or got a new member of staff but even when I went back to speak to them the information staff just asked if an application had now been submitted so what is the problem kind of response. Just thought it would be worth mentioning
