Rubl,

Yes, I was well aware of Dutch Treat, Going Dutch, and / or Doing Dutch from the early days of women's lib in the US as well as the "American share" bit. Cheers for the explanation of Dutch Uncle.

Aaargh. I feel a mild case of 'not made here syndrome' coming up.

Personally I think the translation (of the first part) I provided was a wee bit better (see ).

Maybe I'm not suffering from the NMH syndrome, maybe it's just the Dutch uncle in me trying to get out :D

I think you guys are jealous on the Dutch, because we at least came to the worldcup finals.

For a country that is really small,we are well known.

We are the world leaders in making boats, bridges, tunnels, dykes, cheese ,marihuana, xtc and many more

I am from Rotterdam, and i find it insulting what you guys speak about the Dutch IQ s.

I have my own company herein Thailand, and am not a whining.type.

We are integer people and we not show off.

We have a well known saying:

''Just do normal, then you are already crazy enough''

Just as 'webfact' says...."we wait for a better translation of the posted article"

In this case 'post'.

As I understand it there has been labour "tension" at the embassy for some time and to a certain extent the investigation is in response to allegations made by aggrieved employees .It's no big secret and been chit chat for over a year. In every country's foreign service there is a continuing clash between career diplomatic personnel and the political appointees.

And now for some historical fun: I sense a bit of resentment on the part of some Englishmen in this thread. Is it because Willem III of the House of Orange-Nassau liberated England and became King of England, Ireland & Scotland following the Glorious Revolution? Had not been for the Dutch, the English would have been taking their orders from a daffy Pope in Rome. Instead the English benefited from the Act of Tolerance in 1689. Aside from being tall and loveable, the conservative Dutch spread tolerance on a continent and islands filled with hate. Thailand could use someone along these lines. Besides, who doesn't like the Dutch? At least they have good hygiene and teeth. Plus they know 101 ways to make turnip and parsnip stews. Oddly enough 99 of them involve mayonnaise in some form or fashion. :bah:

edited cuz way too long.

Sorry I didn't see it sooner, otherwise I would have used your part and only got a translation of the second part. Thanks anyway for providing a more sensible translation.
