I have to buy a new wristwatch anyway, so a watch with a pedometer function would be ideal.

Robinsons in Jungceylon has a large selection of watches. They also sell quite a few Casios which may have that feature on some of their models. Worth a check. Otherwise one of the sport places in JC may have what you need.
