Ditch transport, commerce and finance ministers : poll

BANGKOK: -- More than half of Bangkok residents surveyed want the transport, commerce and finance ministers replaced in the imminent Cabinet reshuffle, according to an opinion poll published Sunday.

The Suan Dusit Poll surveyed 1,282 people in Greater Bangkok last week on the Cabinet they wish to see. About 55% of the respondents said they want to see the Cabinet reshuffle because the government’s image is at its ebbs and they no longer have faith in the current administration.

Nearly 64% of the respondents said the Transport Minister, embroiled in corruption scandal over the new Bangkok international airport project, should be replaced. Some 22 % said the Commerce Minister should be shifted while 14% wanted the Finance Minister replaced.

41% believed the Cabinet reshuffle would help restore their confidence in the government, while 37% said they were not sure, and 22% said it won’t make a difference.
