Cod Liver Oil And Supplements

Featured Replies

A simple task of finding anything resembling an adequate dosage of vitamins, is proving to be a futile search. Has anyone found a reasonable Vitamin supplement for an infant. My son is breastfed, so is getting the best he can for now, but studies show a supplementation, of calcium, Vitamin D (100IU), C amoung others is highly recommended. None of the manufacturers here come close to any western country's FDA levels. Cod Liver Oil as awful as it is, has the required D EPA et al (1350IU per tbspn), but of course can't find it anywhere. So what gives, to get a spoon full of cod liver oil we now need to have it wrapped in a Blackmores gel capsule and pay through the nose for it?

What are you all doing if anything for diet supplementation. Frustrated Dad.

You have to speak to a doctor and buy them through the hospital. Pharmacies don't carry them. Our twins were on a liquid drop formula called MultiVim I think for 2 months. It was only about 60 baht at Chulalongkorn hospital, but we had to wait about 3 hours to see the doctor in order to get the prescription.

I did visit about 20 pharmacies looking to refill, and in the end had to go back to the hospital and get another checkup in order to get more vitamins. I was as frustrated as you, but unless you have better luck than me, it is best you simply bite the bullet and take the child in to see the doctor. Liquid drops don't appear to be available over the counter here.

I gave my son Abidec, can buy it at Boots. Infant mutivit.

Yep, never found stuff like that outside hospitals either.

Not for infants but this may become interesting for you soon anyway: I have a daughter now 5 with asthma like problems during the rainy season, I always had problems keeping her weight during May to October, wrong - whatever I did, she always lost weight during that period, weak easily sick, often sick. I always go to hospital and "stock up" in May before the season starts now a days and it works fine. Ferdek iron supplement for kids (15 ml per bottle) is really excellent, helps a lot with apetite, a lot really. And that really helps, she is much much stronger. The Ferdek 15 ml bottle is something like 150 bath each and I buy 10 in May, that lasts 10 weeks or so. That and Nasonex or Sevetide sprays in my case.

Good Luck

PS

Anyone knows where to buy Ferdek iron supplement outside hospital?
