Hi, I am currently filling in the family visit Form VAF 1B Nov 2008 and I obviously want to get it 100% right so if anyone has done this recently some advice would be appreciated on the following questions:

What is the main purpose of your visit to the UK?

Should I just say "Visiting family for Christmas"? I guess I shouldn't say holiday as it is a family visit form??

Question 5.10 What is your total monthly income from all sources of employment or occupation after tax?

I support my wife (I live in Thailand most of the year with her) I send a certain amount of money to her automatically every month to her bank but it is not an employment.

Do I just put "None" and answer the question 5.11 below?

5.11 Do you receive income from any other sources including friends or family?

5.12 Do you have savings, property or other income (for example from stocks and shares)?

My wife owns a house and land, which we both have house registration books for, should we put this here as it is just a house we live in and not a source of income?

5.15 What money is available to you for your trip?

I will pay for everything, have done a letter to that effect but do a need to put a certain amount or put a lump sum in her account? She also has her own credit cards but I heard this is not relevant.

5.19 What is the cost to you personally of your stay in the UK?

Obviously there is no cost to her as I will pay for everything, should we just say that?

Any info on these questions will be appreciated guys, we did apply for a visit visa in 2007 with no problem but she was employed then and had a letter from her employer but now she is a housewife but we do have our own house now so I hope this will be sufficient proof to return.

Any thoughts???

Cheers

Purpose of visit; put whatever the purpose is. If it is to visit your family for Christmas, then this is what you should put.

Q5.10 If she is not working then she has no income from employment or occupation, so put none.

Q5.11 Put in whatever monies you send her, and refer to your sponsor's letter where you should explain how long you spend living with her each year in Thailand and expand, if necessary, on the money you send her.

Q5.12 It asks, among other things, if she owns property, which she does; put in the details.

Q5.15 Say that you are providing the finance for the trip, and roughly how much. Provide proof of income and your bank statements to show that you have the funds.

Q5.19 If that is the answer then that is what you should put.

You say

I live in Thailand most of the year with her
in which case, as long as you provide evidence of your Thai residency, you will be her reason to return and she should have no problem over this. See Spouse/Partner of British Citizen (Based in Thailand) going to the UK for a visit (family visit) – Check List for a list of supporting documents.

Thanks very much for the reply, that all sounds quite straightforward. I am not a Thai resident, I just come here every year on a non immigrant O visa and stay in Thailand for about 6 weeks then go to work for 6 and do that regularly so I am pretty much in Thailand half the year. I will show my passports with my Non O visas that I have every year and hope this is enough reason to return, the main reason is our house to be honest as we effectively live here permanently even though I am technicaly a UK citizen.

Thanks again for the assistance, much appreciated.
